Start with the question you will ask later
You probably do not need a perfect household inventory. You need to answer questions such as “which box has the kettle?” or “where did the chargers go?” Record the items that would make you open the wrong box—not every fork and sock.
Use one record per physical box
- Give the box a short name and destination room.
- Add the important contents while the box is still open.
- Generate and print its QR label.
- Attach the label where it stays visible when boxes are stacked.
- Scan it once before sealing the box.
Keep the label useful to movers
The printed label should still show a box number and room when no phone is available. The QR code provides the searchable detail for the household; it should not be the only way to route the box.
Protect private contents
A QR label can be photographed or shared. Keep detailed descriptions limited to what you need, replace household access if a link escapes and delete the move when you no longer need it.
